Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)
Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain (Massage Therapy Act, 1991).
Conditions treated include;
- Acute and chronic pain conditions
- Osteoarthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Muscle tension and joint stiffness
- Loss of range of motion
- Adhesions and scar tissue
- Stress and anxiety
- Insomnia
- Improve circulation
- Stimulate the lymphatic system
A Registered Massage Therapist is an individual who has undergone extensive competency-based training including a comprehensive clinical component. They have successfully completed a written and practical examination and have been registered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
