Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)

Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain (Massage Therapy Act, 1991).

A Registered Massage Therapist is an individual who has undergone extensive competency-based training including a comprehensive clinical component. They have successfully completed a written and practical examination from and have been registered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

We have four RMT’s on site who work various hours during the work week. If you would like to make an appointment call (905) 332-8265; and inquire about availability.

Meet our Registered Massage Therapists

Dawn, RMT
Dawn Ward, B.A., Rmt
Massage Therapist, Pilates Instructor

After finishing my degree in 1994 at McMaster University, I moved to British Columbia where I spent the next four years enjoying the outdoors, camping, hiking and canoeing. Returning to Ontario in 1998 to pursue my career in Massage Therapy, I studied at the Canadian Therapeutic College in Burlington. After graduating in 2000 I began practicing amongst the team at Headon Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Clinic.

My passion for health has led me to complete a teachers training course In Pilates and I now run a fully equipped studio in the lower level of our clinic. My love for traveling has taken me on many adventures to Europe, Asia and Central America. When I am not busy playing with my two beautiful boys, I relax by reading, taking pottery classes and practicing yoga.

Lisa Barbour
RMT

I have been a Registered Massage Therapist at this clinic since 1996, as well as department head and instructor at Canadian Therapeutic College in Burlington from 1997 to 2009. Prior to attending Sutherland Chan School and Teaching Clinic in Toronto, I enjoyed traveling various destinations. My husband John and I have two children, Kate and Jackson who keep us hopping!

Along with my specialized training in pregnancy, youth and infant massage, my training in NISA and Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapy helps my clients and I achieve their restructuring and decongestive goals. By reducing pain, addressing restrictions, and eliminating toxins, I believe the body has the ability to heal itself. I have always worked in the health care field and since leaving the University of Western Ontario, I have been able to fulfill my passion for caring for people and their well being.
