Meet The Doctor
Hello!
I was born in Poland and moved to Burlington when I was 5 years old. My wife Lisa and I still reside here in Burlington with our twin girls.
I truly love the art, science and philosophy of Chiropractic. The body is an amazing machine and it has an innate healing ability. When provided with proper nutrition, peace of mind, improved posture and spinal alignment we can strengthen this healing. My dream has always been to provide a warm friendly place where all of these aspects of your well being can be addressed. Our clinic offers a variety of health services to fill your needs. From pain relief to wellness care, we are here to help you.
The Headon Chiropractic and Wellness Team
After finishing my degree in 1994 at McMaster University, I moved to British Columbia where I spent the next four years enjoying the outdoors, camping, hiking and canoeing. Returning to Ontario in 1998 to pursue my career in Massage Therapy, I studied at the Canadian Therapeutic College in Burlington. After graduating in 2000 I began practicing amongst the team at Headon Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Clinic.
My passion for health has led me to complete a teachers training course In Pilates and I now run a fully equipped studio in the lower level of our clinic. My love for traveling has taken me on many adventures to Europe, Asia and Central America. When I am not busy playing with my two beautiful boys, I relax by reading, taking pottery classes and practicing yoga.
I have been a Registered Massage Therapist at this clinic since 1996, as well as department head and instructor at Canadian Therapeutic College in Burlington from 1997 to 2009. Prior to attending Sutherland Chan School and Teaching Clinic in Toronto, I enjoyed traveling various destinations. My husband John and I have two children, Kate and Jackson who keep us hopping!
Along with my specialized training in pregnancy, youth and infant massage, my training in NISA and Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapy helps my clients and I achieve their restructuring and decongestive goals. By reducing pain, addressing restrictions, and eliminating toxins, I believe the body has the ability to heal itself. I have always worked in the health care field and since leaving the University of Western Ontario, I have been able to fulfill my passion for caring for people and their well being.
- 2014 marks 20 years as a Registered Massage Therapist with well over twenty thousand massage treatments performed to date.

- Teaching experience instructing and supervising massage therapy students.
- Comfortable working with a diverse client base with thorough experience treating various conditions including sports injuries, nerve entrapment syndromes, headache, pregnancy massage and general deep-tissue relaxation and stress relief.

As the Office Manager at Headon Chiropractic Wellness Centre I have the pleasure of working with an amazing group of caring and compassionate gifted health professionals. I am also very fortunate to work in a field that provides invaluable services for health and wellness which makes for a very rewarding workplace.
I believe in being proactive with your health through Chiropractic care, Naturopathic care and Registered Massage Therapy along with good nutrition and exercise. I also believe knowing what all of your options are when you are making any decision about your health and well being is one of the most important things you can do.
I look forward to meeting new patients and will do everything I can to make each of you feel welcome and help you along the way to great health!
Dr. Sonya Carl completed her pre-med studies at the University of Toronto, with an Honours Bachelor degree in Biology/Chemistry. She then completed the four year post-grad program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, graduating in 2002. Her internship was completed at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and Anishnawbe Health in Toronto. Her interest in alternative health began at age 16 when she visited a holistic doctor for her own health issues and was inspired by the dramatic improvement she experienced. After working for the esteemed Dr. Srajeldin during university, she found her calling.
In her general practice, Dr. Carl sees patients of all ages, and focuses on identifying all the factors that have contributed to her patients' health concerns. A complete health history including nutritional status, hormonal, digestive, and immune function, and mental health as well as current and past medical treatments are all assessed in order to create an individualized treatment plan.
Dr Carl is known for her caring, thorough and common-sense approach. She sees patients primarily with gastrointestinal, skin, hormonal, and chronic conditions such as mental-emotional imbalances, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and insomnia. Treatment plans may include diet and nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, drainage remedies, gemmotherapy, acupuncture, and lifestyle/self care recommendations. Laboratory tests such as salivary hormones, food allergies, stool analysis for bacteria, parasitology, and digestive sufficiency, urinary toxic metals, mineral, and hair analyses are also provided.
Dr. Carl's goal is to assist patients seeking to achieve good health and quality of life by finding the best treatment plan and providing the knowledge and tools.
If you believe that health is not achieved through drugs or surgery, and are tired of a system that only covers up symptoms and treats each of your symptoms in isolation, then naturopathic medicine is for you.

I became interested in Chiropractic after being treated and helped with sciatica. Regular adjustments have become an important part of maintaining overall wellness for me. I was fortunate enough to become a part of Headon Chiropractic Wellness Centre and find it a rewarding experience to be part of making a difference in someone's life through Chiropractic care. Nothing could be better than working along side caring, friendly and compassionate professionals and having great patients to work with! I look forward to being a part of your experience here at Headon Chiropractic.
